22VAC40-191 Background Checks for Child Welfare Agencies
An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed from 11:55am until 1:20pm. At the time of the tour, there were 5 children in care for a total of 9 points with the provider. A sample of 5 children's records and 2 provider/household member records were reviewed. Children were observed playing with age appropriate toys, eating lunch, washing their hands and resting quietly during nap time. The provider does not administer medication or provide transportation at this time. First aid and emergency supplies, 1 injury report and other family day home postings were reviewed. Violations in the areas of nutrition and emergencies are identified on the violation notice and were discussed with the provider during the exit interview.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-800-A Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure that the family day home shall have a written emergency preparedness and response plan that includes all the required elements. Evidence: 1. The emergency preparedness and response plan was not available for review at the time of the inspection. 2. The provider confirmed that the emergency preparedness and response plan was not available for review during the inspection. The provider stated she has an emergency preparedness plan but it could not be located at the time of the inspection. Plan of Correction: The provider stated if she could not locate the current plan today she will complete a new one by this evening and will post it on the parent wall.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-920 Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure that when meals or snacks are provided by the family day home, the menu for the current one-week period shall be given to parents or posted or placed in an area accessible to parents. Evidence: 1. The menu for the current week was not posted in the family day home at the time of the inspection. 2. The provider confirmed that there was no menu posted at the time of the inspection. Plan of Correction: The provider stated she had been working on the menu and will have the current menu posted by the end of the day.
