Today's visit was a routine monitoring inspection. The inspection began at 10:00am and concluded at 1:50pm. There were eleven children in care, three caregivers, and a total of twenty-eight points. During the inspection the outdoor area was viewed, emergency supplies were viewed, lunch time was observed, infant care was observed, diapering was observed, story time was observed, the licensee's records was reviewed, one out of two assistant's records were reviewed, five out of twelve children's records were reviewed, nap time was observed, and some policies and procedures were reviewed. The provider does not administer medication per policy and stated she does not provide transportation. Discussion took place regarding background check requirements. Thank you for your time .
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-210-A Description: Based on the inspector's review of two caregiver records, the provider failed to ensure both caregivers had sixteen hours of annual training. Evidence: The licensee and staff member #2 had fourteen hours of annual training. All caregivers are required to have sixteen hours of annual training. Plan of Correction: The licensee will ensure all caregivers have sixteen hours of annual training and the annual year will be outlined in a training record.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-680-B Description: Based on the inspector's observations, a staff member failed to ensure a child's hands were washed after the completion of a diaper change. Evidence: The inspector observed a diaper change and the staff member did not wash the child's hands with liquid saop and running water after the completion of the diaper diaper changes as required by this standard. Plan of Correction: The licensee will remind all staff to wash the hands of the children after the completion of a diaper change.
