An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, March 7, 2018 to determine the provider's compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 11:45 am and concluded the inspection at 2:30 pm. The provider participated in the inspection. During the inspection, six children with a value of 16 points were in care with two caregivers. Children were napping at the time of the inspectors arrival. As children got up they looked at books. Later children were observed playing with the kitchen set. Children sat stuffed animals and a doll at the child size table where the put out cups and bowls for each. The provider had circle time with the children, singing songs and reviewing the ABC's. Caregivers interacted with the children in a positive manner. All areas of the family day home used for child care were inspected. The pool was locked and inaccessible to children in care. The outdoor play area was not inspected today due to weather. The provider had all required information posted to include the license, last inspection notice, emergency numbers, evacuation maps, menu, allergy information and attendance sheets. The family day home was equipped with age and stage appropriate materials and supplies. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. The inspector interacted with the children in care and the provider. Records reviewed for three caregivers, two household members and six children. one caregiver has current MAT certification. All caregivers and the provider have current CPR & First aid training. Currently there are no children with medications. The most recent evacuation drill was documented on 02/09/2018. The two required shelter-in-place drill for the 2017 year were completed on 04/06/2017 and 09/08/2017. A shelter-in-place drill for 2018 was documented on 01/04/2018. A lock down drill was documented on 01/04/2018. The provider does not provide transportation. The emergency preparedness plan was reviewed and updated 04/18/2017. The violations cited during the previous inspection on 05/25/2017 were checked for corrections. There were no repeat violations cited during today's inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-780-B Description: Based on review of children's records, the provider did not obtain the parent's signed acknowledgment of the review of the child's emergency contact information annually. Evidence: 1. The most recent acknowledgment of review for the record of child #2 was dated 06/08/2016 exceeding the annual requirement. 2. The most recent acknowledgment of review for the record of child #3 was dated 12/06/2016 exceeding the annual requirement. Plan of Correction: Per the provider: I will have parents review the information tonight at pick-up and sign the acknowledgment.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-180-A Description: Based on review of caregiver records, the provider did not obtain documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening for caregivers every two years from the date of the first screening. Evidence: The most recent tuberculosis screening for caregiver #2 was dated 02/25/2016, exceeding the two years to obtain an update. Plan of Correction: Per the provider: I will have the caregiver update her tuberculosis scrrening this week.
