- Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included checking with the Office of Background Investigations since the fingerprints were completed last month and no results have been made availablee We also discussed children's handwashing; record keeping; requirements for transportation when picking up children from school; and issues related to choking hazards and jewelry for infants/toddlers from home.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:15 - 111:45 am. There were two children in care with the provider for 8 points. I observed children playing with manipulative toys; putting plastic eggs in a basket and counting. Schoolagers arrive later. Record keeping was well-organized. If you have any questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B Description: Based on a review of children's records today, there were some items that were not complete. Evidence: Out of five files reviewed today, the proof of identity listed children's insurance numbers, not the number on the birth certificate. Plan of Correction: I wil get ask for the birth certificates to get the correct number to uses for proof of identity.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-480-B Description: Based on observation during today's inspection, two items played with by children were not appropriate to age/stage of development. Evidence: The stuffed animal puppet that two toddlers were playing with had an attached tag that indicated it was for use by children over age 3. Also present on the floor where the toddlers were playing was a miniature metal car with tiny parts which could pose a choking hazard. Plan of Correction: Removed during inspection. The puppet will only be used by me to talk to the children. The car was brought in by one of the children. I will talk to his mother.
