- Technical Assistance:
Discussion on the importance of tummy time for infants. Discussed age and stage appropriate equipment for the infants in care. Infant and Toddler training resource provided on upcoming training in your area.
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted this date. A total of 8 children (27pts) with Provider and 1 assistant present. Children were observed playing with legos, foam shaped letters and interacting with staff. Infants were observed napping in cribs and also sitting in activity chairs. Infants were observed being rotated by staff frequently. Observation of the home was made, review of 5 children's records, all household and staff records was made. Currently no medications at this time. Some violations found, most of which were corrected during the inspection. This inspection began at 10am and ended at 12:15pm. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-750-A Description: Based on observation of the diaper changing area, two topicals were not labeled with the child's name. Evidence: Two diaper cream ointments for Child # 1 was not with the child's name. Plan of Correction: I will label this ointment today with the child's name.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-750-D Description: Based on observation of the diaper changing area, one product found that has been expired. Evidence: Butt Paste for Child #1 expired in 2017. Plan of Correction: I will return this ointment to the parent today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-890 Description: Based on observation of the physical plant, food was not labeled as required with children's names. Evidence: Two infant formula containers were not labeled with each child's name. Plan of Correction: I will label these containers today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-960-E Description: Based on observation of the physical plant, bottles were not labeled and dated. Evidence: Two infant's bottles were not labeled with their names and were not dated. Plan of Correction: I will request parents to label the bottles at home prior to bringing them to the home.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-520-E Description: Based on observation of the cribs, one bumper pad was observed in one crib. Evidence: A mesh sided crib bumper pad was found in the crib located closest to the back door. Plan of Correction: I will remove this bumper pad today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-530-F Description: Based on observation of the cribs, soft bedding was found in two cribs. Evidence: In one occupied crib, a soft padded mat and blanket was found under and around the infant who was sleeping. A stuffed toy was found in another occupied crib. Plan of Correction: I removed the mat and the blanket immediately. Pacifiers with stuffed toys attached will no longer be allowed in cribs.
