Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on August 30 2018 between 10:30am and 12:15pm. There were 11 children (36 points) in the direct care of 2 providers from 10:20am to 10:35am and 3 providers from 10:35am to the end of the Children were observed being diapered, washing hands, eating lunch, napping, playing on an indoor slide, dancing, singing, and having tummy time. The home day care is clean, organized, and has plenty of spaces for the children to explore and play. Areas of non-compliance are listed on the violation notice. If you have any questions please contact me at 703-554-4995 or at derek.acosta@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-520-C
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that crib mattress fit snugly next to the crib. Evidence: State regulation requires no more than a two finger width space between the mattress and the crib. A crib being used in the day care had approximately 3 finger widths of space between the crib and the mattress.

Plan of Correction: I didn't notice that one of the mattresses was out of the regular size. I will replace it.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-530-F
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that no stuffed toys of any kind were used around infants. Evidence: 2 infants were observed napping with pacifiers that were attached to stuffed toys.

Plan of Correction: I won't accept stuffed animal pacifiers anymore.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-570-A
Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure that caregivers did not exceed 16 points worth of children per staff person at any given time. Evidence: The provider stated to the inspector that she left the home to purchase additional food for the day care. There were 11 children equalling 36 points left in the care of 2 staff members while the provider was not in the home. The state requires no more than 16 points per staff person.

Plan of Correction: Currently I am missing a part time employee and unfortunately I was obligated to go out to buy extra for the kids since I had an incident in the kitchen since I messed up the food.
