An unannounced code compliance inspection was conducted on 10/26/2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. There were 24 children present with 10 supervising staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision and procedures. A total of 5 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. Standard #: 22.1-289.031-B-5 Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure all areas of the premises accessible to children were free of obvious injury hazards.
Evidence:
1. A bottle of glass cleaner was observed sitting on a sink accessible to children.Plan of Correction: The cleaner was removed from the area during inspection.
Standard #: 8VAC20-770-40-D-2 Description: Based on record review, results of a search of the central registry were not obtained within 30 days of employment for 4 of 5 staff reviewed.
Evidence:
1. Staff #1, 2, 3, and 4 began employment on 8/25/2023. The results of a search of the central registry in the records for Staff #1, 2, 3, and 4 were dated 10/20/2023.Plan of Correction: Central Registry Check results were obtained for staff and placed in the record. The Center will ensure background checks are completed within required time frames.
