22VAC40-191 Background Checks for Child Welfare Agencies
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:30am-12:30pm. There were 9 children (25 points) supervised by 3 direct care staff. The home, 3 staff records, 5 children?s records, 2 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing outside, transitioning to lunch, and singing songs. Handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an abundance of books, toys, and materials, which were found to be developmentally appropriate for the children in care at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-960-E Description: Based on observation, 2 bottles did not contain the child's full name and date. Evidence: Child #3 (date of birth: 10/23/2017) and Child #5's (date of birth: 1/7/2018) bottles were labeled with the children's first names only, and did not have the children's last names and current date. Plan of Correction: Corrected during time of inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B Description: Based on record review, 1 of 5 children's records did not contain all of the required information. Evidence: Child #2's (start date: 5/23/2017) did not contain documentation of a completed physical form signed by a physician. Plan of Correction: I will contact the parent today to have them bring the missing form.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280 Description: Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances were not stored in areas inaccessible to children. Evidence: A container of clorox wipes and lysol spray bottles were sitting on the floor inside of an unlocked closet. Plan of Correction: Corrected during time of inspection.
