The provider has placed a portable heater on the floor in the children's nap room. Although this heater was not in use during the inspection, the Inspector reminded the provider that a child safe barrier must be placed around the heater when in use. The provider indicated that the heater will be removed and not used in the child care areas.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. The provider and two assistant caregivers were caring for 10 children, totaling 34 points. Children's records, the physical plant, caregiver health records, emergency preparedness items, and children's nutrition were inspected today. The provider reported that no children's medications were on site today. The children were observed eating lunch, playing with toys, interacting with each caregiver, and preparing for their afternoon nap. The children were served grilled cheese sandwiches, corn, apple slices, and milk for lunch today. This inspection was completed between approximately 11:45pm and 1:00pm. Thank you for meeting with me today. If you have any questions regarding this inspection please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-80-C Description: Based on a review of children's records, it was determined that the provider did not document that she viewed each child's original proof of identification. Evidence: Child record A and record D do not include documentation indicating that the provider viewed each child's original proof of identification. Plan of Correction: I viewed each birth certificate. I will go back and update the documentation.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observations, it was determined that the diaper changing pad has not been maintained in a clean and operable condition as required. Evidence: There is a hole on the top of the diaper changing pad. Plan of Correction: I will buy a new changing pad.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280 Description: Based on observations, it was determined that potentially hazardous substances were not stored in a manner to keep them inaccessible to the children. Evidence: Two cleaning products were stored inside a floor level cabinet in the area where the children eat lunch and snacks. The cabinet lock has broken, leaving the items potentially accessible to the children. Plan of Correction: I will replace the child safety lock on the cabinet doors.
