Technical Assistance:
Discussed current USDA requirements regarding breakfast cereals and snack foods. Standard 440. A was reviewed: Children shall not have access to lofts that do not have protective barriers or guardrails.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 01/11/2019 from 11:35am - 12:40pm. At the time of entrance there were four children in care with the provider. The ages of the children counted for a total of eight points. Children were observed playing in the child care room. Records reviewed for the four children in care. Annual training was reviewed for the provider. The entire home and backyard play area was reviewed. The provider has stated that the backyard play area is not is use at this time. The violations are listed on the violation notice and were reviewed with the provider at the conclusion of the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A
Description: Based on record review and interview, the provider failed to ensure that emergency evacuation procedures shall be practiced monthly with all caregivers and children in care during all shifts that children are in care. Evidence: 1. A fire drill for the December 2018 was not indicated on the emergency practice log for the FDH. 2. The provider confirmed that a fire drill had not been conducted in December 2018.

Plan of Correction: A fire drill will be conducted this month and each month going forward.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-A
Description: Based on observation, the provider failed ensure that small electrical appliances such as toasters shall be unplugged unless being used by the caregiver or with children under close supervision. Evidence: 1. The toaster, located in the kitchen, was plugged into a wall outlet during the inspection. a. The toaster was not in use when the inspector viewed the kitchen at 11:45am.

Plan of Correction: The toaster was unplugged during the inspection and will remain unplugged when not in use.
