22VAC40-191 Background Checks for Child Welfare Agencies
An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on 1/29/19. There were 10 children present from 18 months through five years with the provider and assistant supervising. The point total was 20. Five children's records (one newly enrolled child), the provider's record, and three assistant's records (one newly hired) were reviewed. No medications are administered by the provider. The inspector arrived at the provider's home at 7:45 am and departed at 12:00 pm. The children were observed at arrival, during free play time, and during lunch.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-900-B Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to ensure that children were not allowed to drink while walking. Evidence: 1. There was an 18 month old child observed walking around while drinking milk from a sippie cup. Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection. When the inspector pointed out to the provider that the child was walking around while drinking, the provider had the child sit in an infant seat with a safety strap fastened to drink the milk.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-920 Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to ensure that the posted menu of food provided by the family day home was dated. Evidence: 1. The current week menu was observed and the week prior menu were observed posted. Neither menu was dated. Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection. The provider dated the menu.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-90-C Description: Based on record review, the provider failed to ensure that additional documentation of immunizations was obtained for all children requiring updates. Evidence: 1. The last documentation of an immunization for child #5 was dated 6/14/18 at two months old. Child #5 is currently nine months old. Documentation of immunizations is required to be updated every six months for children under two years of age. Plan of Correction: The provider called the parent during the inspection. The parent will provide documentation of immunizations after the next appointment.
