Discussed with the provider: Fingerprint results must be received and state that the person is eligible to be hired prior to them starting work, volunteering or training.
An unannounced Renewal Inspection was conducted beginning at 9:15 and ending at 10:30. There are 9 children in care with the provider and two assistants. Children are ages 10 months - 5 years. Children were observed participating in Montessori learning activities including a cooking project, reading and playing with age appropriate playthings and activities. Emergency escape drills and shelter in place drills are up to date. Reviewed Files for family and staff - see violation notice Reviewed files for 10 enrolled children - complete Provider does not give medication Inspected all areas of the home - no concerns. The Lower area is used for Childcare. It was well supplied with quality furniture and educational supplies for all ages. Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-G-1 Description: Based on a review of staff files and interview with the provider, it was determined that one staff has begun employment prior to having returned Fingerprint results. Evidence: Staff #2 was hired and began work on 1/31/19. She went for Finger Prints on 2/4/19. The results have not been received. Plan of Correction: The Provider will not allow anyone to start working or even to start training until they have been determined to be eligible for employment and the letter has been received from the Office of Background Investigations.
