Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, February 19, 2019 to determine the providers compliance with family day home standards. The inspection was initiated at 9:00am and concluded at 11:00am. Upon the inspector's arrival five children were in care for a value of eleven points with one caregiver. Children were observed watching a children's video. Later children played with toys in the main area used for child care. Children sang songs, played with dolls, small riding toys and blocks. One child made breakfast for the inspector with plastic food at the kitchen play set. The caregivers interacted in a positive and nurturing manner with children in care. The provider had the following posted: emergency phone numbers, last inspection notice, attendance sheets, menu and the license. Today's lunch menu listed stew (chicken, egg noodles, mixed vegetables), strawberries and milk. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were checked and found complete. All areas used for child care were inspected. The family day home is equipped with age appropriate materials. Children's art work was displayed on the wall. Children have been talking about Bessie Coleman and Dr. Seuss. The inspector interacted with children in care and the caregiver. An evacuation drill was documented on 02/01/2019 and the two required shelter-in-place drills for 2018 were completed on 09/13/2018 and 12/03/2018. The records for four children, one caregiver and one household were reviewed. Medication is not being administered. No transportation provided. The caregiver has current CPR & First aid certification. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at 804-662-9758.
