Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: Based on observation, the licensee did not ensure that all areas of the home are maintained in a safe condition at the time of the inspection. Evidence: A small metal stand with several shelves was located in the main child care area where six children. ages 18 months to 5 years old were being cared for. The stand had a stack of books and papers pile on top of it. When the inspector gently pushed against the stand, it wobbled back and forth and the pile of papers and books on top leaned to one side and them the other. If a toddler attempted to pull up using the stand, it would likely topple over and could injure the child if it fell on him or her.

Plan of Correction: The licensee removed the items from the top of the stand during the inspection and demonstrated that it was no longer unstable.
