An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on August 8, 2019. There were seven children present, between the ages of 12 months old to five years old, with the provider and an assistant totaling 15 points. The children were observed arriving to the program, finishing a morning snack, and playing with legos and puzzles. The following items were reviewed as a part of the inspection: supervision, administration, nutrition, health and safety, indoor and outdoor areas, required documentation, and emergency supplies, procedures and required postings. Five children's records were reviewed. Also reviewed were the provider's record, one household member's record and an assistant's record. The family day home will not be administering medication at this time. The family day home will not provide transportation for the children in care.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-940-A Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that temperatures shall be maintained at or below 40?F in refrigerator compartments. Evidence: As confirmed by the Provider, there were two thermometers in the refrigerator that measured the temperature at approximately 46?F and 50?F. Plan of Correction: Provider will put new thermometers in the refrigerator.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-H Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the provider did not ensure that all flammable and combustible materials such as, but not limited to, matches, lighters, lighter fluid, kerosene, turpentine, oil and grease products, aerosol cans, and alcohol shall be stored in an area inaccessible to children. Evidence: The provider confirmed that there was a lighter and lighter fluid observed on the outdoor play area. Plan of Correction: Those items will be removed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-460-I Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the provider did not ensure that animal water dishes shall be inaccessible to children. Evidence: The provider confirmed that there was a dog's dish filled with water on the first step at the back door where children use to access the outdoor play area. Plan of Correction: Provider will bring the dish inside in an area that is not accessible.
