Today an unannounced Renewal inspection took place between 11:50am and 1:30pm. There were 8 children present with the provider and 1 assistant for a total of 17 points within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed being read to, having a discussion about what to expect when they children start kindergarten in a couple of weeks and napping. Diaper changing procedures were observed. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, menu, attendance and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-100-A Description: Based on record review, the provider did not obtain documentation of a physical examination prior to a child's attendance or within 30 days after the first day of attendance. Evidence: Child #1 (date of enrollment: 8/20/18) and Child #3 (date of enrollment: 2/18/14) files did not contain a physical exam. Plan of Correction: Child #1 is off for the summer, I'll have the parents provide a physical with the new school year. Child #3 is leaving for kindergarten.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B Description: Based on record review, children's records did not contain all required information. Evidence: Child #9 file did not contain two non-parental emergency contacts. Plan of Correction: I'll have the parents provide two today when they pick up.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-680-B Description: Based on observation, caregivers did not ensure that children's hands were washed after diapering. Evidence: Child #8 was observed having their diaper changed and then being laid in their crib to take a nap. The child's hands were not washed after the diaper change. Plan of Correction: I'll wash their hands.
