Discussion about menu, cleaning supplies, and crib toys.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:00am-11:30am. There were 4 children (11 points) directly supervised by 2 staff. The home, 3 staff records, 2 children?s records, 1 household member?s record, evacuation drills, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely, learning with vocabulary cards, playing with puzzles and eating snack. Bottle feeding was also observed. There was a supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-50-A Description: Based on record review, the provider did not maintain a written record of children in attendance each day. Evidence: There was no documentation of the children in care for the date of inspection. Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-60-B Description: Based on record review, 2 of 2 children's records did not contain documentation of all required information. Evidence: 1) Child #1's record did not contain documentation of proof of identification. 2) Child #2's (DOB 10/20/17) record did not contain documentation of the father's employment information, and updated immunization records every 6 months. The most recent updated immunization record was dated 10/25/18. Plan of Correction: I will request them from the parents.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-A Description: Based on observation, the family day home provider did not ensure that small electrical appliances were unplugged when not in use. Evidence: 1) In the upstairs kitchen area, a coffee maker, toaster, and toaster over were plugged in and not in use. 2) In one of the upstairs bedrooms, a portable fan was plugged in and not in use. Plan of Correction: I will keep them unplugged when not in use. The unplugged fan was unplugged during inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-B Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that child-resistant protective covers were used on all unused electrical outlets. Evidence: In the kitchen area, one electrical outlet did not have the child-resistant protective cover. Plan of Correction: I will purchase more outlet covers.
