Technical Assistance:
The Inspector will recommend the issuance of a renewed license with an increased capacity of 12 children.

Comments:
An unannounced full renewal inspection was conducted today. The provider was caring for 7 children, totaling 19 points. Children's records, the physical plant, caregiver:child interactions, emergency preparedness items, children's nutrition, caregiver records, background checks, and infant feeding procedures were inspected today.
The provider reported to the Inspector that no children's medications were on site today.

The children were observed playing with toys, assembling puzzles, coloring pictures, and engaging in creative play activities.

This inspection was completed between approximately 10:30am and 11:30am. Thank you for meeting with me today. If you have any questions regarding this inspection please email me at sandra.dimperio@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-50-A
Description: Based on a review of administrative records, it was determined that the provider has not kept an accurate record of children in attendance.
Evidence:
Upon arrival, the Inspector observed a total of 6 children in care. However, the written attendance indicated a total of only 4 children in care.

Plan of Correction: The attendance was immediately updated during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that two potentially hazardous substances were not stored in a manner to keep them inaccessible to the children.
Evidence:
The Inspector observed a container of adult toothpaste and a bottle of adult mouthwash on the bathroom counter directly next to the children's handwashing sink. Both of these items were labeled "keep out of the reach of children." This method of storage does not keep each item inaccessible to the children.

Plan of Correction: Both items were immediately moved during the inspection.
