A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 1/9/2020 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on 1/9/2020. There were five children present from four months through two years with the provider and assistant supervising. The point total was 17. Six newly enrolled children's records were reviewed. All caregiver and household member's records were current and did not need review. The provider does not administer medications. The inspector arrived at the provider's home at 12:45 pm and departed at 4:00 pm.There was detailed discussion about infant sleeping arrangements including not using car seats as the sleeping space, not having any type of filled blankets in the crib or other sleeping space.
A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice.
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-160-B Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider failed to ensure that the attendance on the date of the inspection documented the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs.
1. At arrival of the inspector there were six children's names on the attendance and five children actually present. According to the provider, two of the children had left at approximately 8:20 am for public school and had not been
marked off the attendance as departing the family day home. This would leave four children marked on the attendance.
2. The provider stated that one child who had arrived at approximately 8:35 am was not marked present on the attendance. This child is 22 months old.
3. The attendance was observed at approximately 1:00 pm.
Plan of Correction: The provider corrected the attendance during the inspection. When the provider asked about the discrepancy of the number of children present versus the number of children on the attendance, the provider corrected it.
