Technical Assistance:
We discussed the requirement for documenting all types of emergency drill practices. The risk assessment for a violation was provided.

We reviewed the requirements for initial immunization records and physical examination records for records of children.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on July 21, 2020 and concluded on July 21, 2020. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were four children present and one caregiver. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed two children?s records and three caregiver/resident records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with an applicable standard and the violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-C
Description: Based on a review of the emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place drills for 2020, and an interview with the provider, the provider has not maintained documentation of all emergency drills that were practiced. Evidence: The provider indicated that a shelter-in-place drill was practiced with the children in care during March 2020. During the review of the emergency drill records, the March practice drill for shelter-in-place was not found on the drill record list and a calendar.

Plan of Correction: The provider will begin using the drill record form that is used for monthly fire drills to write the shelter-in-place drill dates and information about the practice.
