Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A renewal inspection was initiated on 10/22/20 and concluded on 10/28/20. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were three children present with the provider. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed two children?s records, the provider's record, and two household members records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

If you have questions regarding this inspection you may contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@dss.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A
Description: Based on review of documentation and interview with the provider, emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced monthly. Evidence: 1. There is no documentation of an emergency evacuation drill being practiced in July. 2. In the space for July's emergency evacuation drill, the provider listed the shelter-in-place drill documentation.

Plan of Correction: I will be sure to practice and document drills as required.

Standard #: 63.2-1721.1-B-3
Description: Based on review of two household member's files and interview with the provider, the provider did not obtain the results of a search of the central registry for another state in which a household member lived in the previous five years or follow up on the search within 45 days. Evidence: Household Member 1 disclosed on the sworn statement dated 10/31/19 that they had lived in the State of Tennessee within the past five years but the results of a central registry check from Tennessee have not been received or followed up on.

Plan of Correction: I submitted the request but never heard back from anyone. I reached out to them during the inspection.
