This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
An "other" inspection was initiated on December 1, 2020 and concluded on December 1, 2020 in response to a modification request to change the family day home's capacity. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were nine children present and two staff. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed space to be used by children in care.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-40-A Description: Based on interview, the provider did not ensure the total number of children receiving care at any one time did not exceed the maximum licensed capacity of the home.
Evidence:
1. The provider stated an additional child had been enrolled and that nine children were in care on December 1, 2020 exceeding the license capacity.
2. The provider is licensed for eight children.Plan of Correction: Per the Provider: I tried to contact licensing on serval [sic] occasions along with child savors [sic] to find out if I could increase my capacity as I had multiple families who wanted care. I didn't hear back from them so I went ahead and took another child. I have submitted my request to increase my capacity.
