Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A focused inspection was initiated on December 16, 2020 and concluded on December 21, 2020. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were six children present totaling 14 points which included two resident children . The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed two children's records submitted by the family day home to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-830-A
Description: Based on review and provider interview, the provider did not ensure that emergency evacuation procedures shall be practiced monthly with all caregivers and children in care during all shifts that children are in care.

Evidence: The provider confirmed that there was no documentation of an evacuation drill practiced in November 2020.

Plan of Correction: Moving forward, emergency response drills will be conducted monthly.
