63.2 Licensure and Registration Procedures
- Technical Assistance:
Technical Assistance was offered regarding background checks for employees.
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated and concluded on 12/30/20. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 7 children (19 points) present and 5 caregivers. The inspector conducted a virtual review of documents and the family day home. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on record review and staff interview, the family day home provider did not obtain findings of a Virginia (VA) central registry search for an employee within 30 days of employment.
1. Caregiver # 1's first day of employment was 8/9/20.
2. Caregiver # 1's VA central registry search findings were not in her records for review.
3. The provider stated that she had mailed the form but never received the results. A follow up was not conducted by the provider to inquire about the results.
Plan of Correction: The provider will follow up with the agency and contact the licensing inspector within 10 days.
Standard #: 63.2-1720.1-B-2 Description: Based on record review and staff interview, the family day home provider did not obtain results of fingerprint based criminal record check for an employee before the first day of employment.
1. Caregiver # 1's first date of employment was 8/9/20.
2. The provider stated that Caregiver # 1 had completed the fingerprinting process, and that the provider had received the results via email. However, the provider was unable to make the results available for review during the inspection.
Plan of Correction: Provider called Field Print who gave her a tracking number. A follow up will be conducted and the provider will follow up with the inspector within 10 days.
