Technical Assistance:
Discussion on hazardous items, infant and toddler equipment and background checks.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using and alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on July 20, 2021 and concluded on July 28, 2021. The provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 5 children present directly supervised by 2 staff members. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, special care and emergencies and nutrition. The inspector reviewed on two children records and two staff records.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-250-A
Description: Based on observation during the inspection, the provider did not ensure hanging item of appliance cords out of reach of children under five years of age.
Evidence: An appliance cord was in reach of a child under five years old. The cord was located next to the child who was sitting in a high chair eating morning meal.

Plan of Correction: I have moved the appliance cord out of the reach of the children.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-540-A
Description: Based on observation during the inspection, the provider did not sure high chairs were used according to the manufacturer's instructions and when occupied by a child, a safety strap shall be used and securely fastened.
Evidence: A child was sitting in a high chair preparing for morning meal, learning forward with one leg bended. A safety strap was not sued and securely fastened for the child in the high chair.

Plan of Correction: I will ensure the child sits in the seat properly and that the safety strap is fastened.
