Comments:
An "other" inspection was conduced on site, August 23, 2021 in response to a modification request to increase the family day home's capacity. The provider requested an increase of capacity from five children to twelve children. The family day home has space, supplies and materials available to accommodate twelve children. The licensing inspector and provider discussed policies, procedures and documentation including zoning was reviewed. All areas of the home were inspected. There were five family day home children and two resident children present with three caregivers. One caregiver record was reviewed. The inspector was on site from 12:00 pm until 1:15 pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure potentially poisonous substances, materials and supplies such as, but not limited to, cleaning agents, disinfectants, deodorizers, plant care chemicals, pesticides, and petroleum distillates were stored away from food in areas inaccessible to children.

Evidence:

1. A bottle of multi-purpose cleaner was observed on the floor of the dinning room accessible to children in care.
2. Children were observed entering and exiting the dinning room.
3. The multi-purpose cleaner stated "warning, keep out of reach of children".

Plan of Correction: Per the provider, I will make sure cleaning supplies are kept inaccessible to children. The multi-purpose cleaner was removed from the floor of the dinning room and place in the closet.
