This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 09/30/2021 and concluded on 10/04/2021. The provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 10 children present, ranging in ages from 4 months to 3 years, with 2 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280 Description: Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances, were not stored away in areas inaccessible to children.
1) On the date of inspection, cleaning products were observed in areas accessible to children as follows: a) In the bathroom of the care area, a container with a powder cleaner and a bottle of glass cleaner were located inside the cabinet under the bathroom sink. The cabinet doors were did not have a locking mechanism.
b) In the room where infants sleep, a bottle of bleach spray was located on a shelf where baby wipes and diapers are stored. This shelf was at a height that could be reached by children.
Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection. The provider moved the bottles to a high shelf in the bathroom.
