Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program. A renewal inspection was initiated on 10/15/2021 and concluded on 10/19/2021. The licensee was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 6 children present and 2 caregivers. The inspector emailed the licensee a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 3 caregiver records, along with any requested program records submitted by the facility to determine if required documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280
Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure all potentially poisonous materials were in accessible to children.
Evidence:
There was an air freshener plugged into an electrical outlet near the changing table in the main daycare room. The plug-in contained the liquid freshener and was close to the floor board.

Plan of Correction: The licensee will no longer use plug-in air fresheners that are in reach of children in care.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-B
Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure child-resistant protective covers larger than 1-1/4 inches in diameter were installed on all unused electrical outlets.
Evidence: There was an electrical outlet in the kitchen that did not have a protective cover. There were 6 children in care under the age of 5 years-old at the time of inspection.

Plan of Correction: A protective cover will be placed over the electrical outlet in the kitchen.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-690-D
Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure diapering surfaces were not used for food preparation areas, or surfaces used for children's activities.

Evidence:
There was an open box of crackers sitting on top of the diaper changing table.

Plan of Correction: The licensee removed the box of crackers off of the changing table surface during the inspection.
