Technical Assistance:
Discussion of the new requirement for having at least one carbon monoxide detectors in a building (built before 2015) that houses a licensed child day program that serves preschool-age children. The Family Day Home (FDH) has not yet fully complied with this requirement. The Provider stated that the device will be installed. The FDH will work with their Licensing Inspector to ensure future compliance.

Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews, and a virtual tour of the program.

This inspection was initiated and concluded on 11/18/2021. The Provider was contacted and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 5 children present, ranging from 3 months to 3 years in age, with 2 caregivers supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration; physical plant; staffing and supervision; programming; special care and emergencies; and nutrition. A total of 5 children records, 2 household records, and 2 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined that there was a non-compliance with an applicable standard. This violation was documented on the Violation Notice issued to the program.

If you should have any questions, please call or send an email to charlie.perkins@doe.virginia.gov. Thank you.
