Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a tour of the program.

A renewal inspection was initiated on 12/15/21 and concluded on 12/16/21. The provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were three children present, ranging in ages from six months to two years, with one staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of two child records and two staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

We discussed the following standards: No soft bedding of any kind shall be used under or around infants including, but not limited to, pillows, quilts, comforters, sheepskins, or stuffed toys.
Potentially poisonous substances, materials and supplies such as, but not limited to, cleaning agents, disinfectants, deodorizers, plant care chemicals, pesticides, and petroleum distillates shall be stored away from food in areas inaccessible to children.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-790
Description: Based on a tour of the home, the facility failed to post all required emergency telephone numbers.
Evidence:
1. There is no telephone number posted for an emergency backup person who is 18 years of age or older and is able to arrive at the family day home within 10 minutes for emergency backup care until the children can be picked up by their parents.

Plan of Correction: The provider reported that she will post a name and phone number of a backup person who can arrive at the home within 10 minutes.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-350-E
Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to insure that the hot water temperature does not exceed 120 degrees.
Evidence:
1. The water temperature was measured at 122 degrees.

Plan of Correction: The provider reported that the hot water heater will be adjusted to meet the 120 degree temperature.
