Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated on 12/10/2021 and concluded on 12/13/2021. There were 11 children present with 2 caregivers. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-230-B
Description: Based on interview, the vendor failed to ensure that within the first 90 days of employment all caregivers shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff sponsored by the Department of Social Services.

Evidence:
1. The provider stated that caregiver 2 had not completed the ten hour Virginia Preservice Training.
a. Caregiver 2 has an employment date of 12/12/2017.

Standard #: 22VAC40-665-230-H
Description: Based on interview, the vendor failed to ensure that caregivers who work directly with children shall in addition to preservice and orientation training required in subsections A through D of this section, annually attend at least 16 hours of training, to include the department's health and safety update course.

Evidence:
The provider stated that caregiver 1 and caregiver 2 had not completed the three hour health and safety updated course.
