Technical Assistance:
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) assumed oversight of child care licensing and monitoring on July 1, 2021. All associated regulations and codes have transferred over from the Virginia Department of Social Services. Guidance, resources and training links can be found on the new website: childcareva.com.
The violations on the Violation Notice reflect the new VDOE codes and standards.

Comments:
A Monitoring inspection was initiated today. This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program. The director/provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were a total of 8 children present with Provider at the beginning of the inspection. An additional staff arrived approximately 10 minutes later. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records and 3 staff records and 1 household record were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Feel free to contact me if you need any assistance at: lisa.hudson@doe.virginia.gov.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-570-A
Description: Based on observation and staff statements, the provider did not ensure that the maximum 16 points were maintained.
Evidence:
1. At the beginning of the inspection, there were 8 children in care ranging in ages of 5 months to 3 years with only one staff, totaling 25 points.
2. The provider exceeded the maximum 16 points per staff for approximately 10 minutes when a second caregiver arrived.

Plan of Correction: My morning caregiver left without notice. I will ensure that this does not occur again.
