Comments:
A renewal inspection was initiated on-site on January 26, 2022 and concluded on January 26, 2022. There were 2 children present, ranging in ages from 8 months to 3 years, with 1 caregiver supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records and 1 caregiver record were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s), 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again; and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measures. Please do not use staff names; list staff by positions only.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D
Description: Based on observation and interview on January 26, 2022, the provider did not ensure medication, except for those prescriptions designated otherwise by a written physician's order, including refrigerated medication and medications for caregivers and household members, shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: There was an unlocked medicine cabinet, containing household medications, in the caregiver's bedroom. The door to the bedroom was not locked and the medicine cabinet was not locked.

Plan of Correction: Will put lock on box.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-320-E
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that portable electric heaters located in areas accessible to children had barriers or screens.
Evidence: A portable electric heater was observed in use on the floor in the daycare area. The heater did not have a barrier or screen around it. Children were observed in the daycare area, near the portable heater during the inspection.

Plan of Correction: Corrected on site.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-690-E
Description: Based on observation and interview on January 26, 2022, the provider did not ensure that soiled disposable diapers and wipes be disposed of in a leak-proof or plastic-lined storage system that is either foot operated or used in such a way that neither the caregiver's hand nor the soiled diaper or wipe touches the exterior surface of the storage system during disposal.
Evidence: During the inspection, the provider indicated she lifts the lid of the garbage can in the daycare area when disposing diapers.

Plan of Correction: Will purchase today.
