An unannounced Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted today from 11:55am to 2:40pm in conjunction with a monitoring inspection (see that inspection report for details). The two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Staff records were reviewed for documentation of the mandatory Virginia Preservice Training and current certification in First Aid and CPR. The last lockdown drill was documented on 8/30/21. Standard #: 8VAC20-790-180-B Description: Based on review of documentation and interview, the provider did not maintain a written hard copy record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs. Evidence: 1. At approximately 11:55am on 2/2/22 the attendance record contained documentation that 13 children were present at the family day home. There were 12 children in care at the time. At approximately 12:30pm on 2/2/22 the 13th child arrived. 2. The attendance for the month of January did not contain documentation of arrival and departure of each child as it occurred, but instead documented whether the child was present or absent for the day. Plan of Correction: I now understand how I should document attendance and will meet the standard moving forward. The updated attendance record with arrival and departure times was submitted to the Licensing Inspector on 2/3/22.
