Technical Assistance:
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) assumed oversight of child care licensing and monitoring on July 1, 2021. All associated regulations and codes have transferred over from the Virginia Department of Social Services.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 2/4/2022. The provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 7 children present, ranging in ages from 6 months to 3 years, with 2 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 1 child records and staff trainings were reviewed. Lunch served today was mac and cheese, broccoli, bread and milk. Emergency preparation was current. The provider no longer participates in the subsidy program. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Description: Based on provider statement, the substitute provider did not record and sign the time of arrival and departures on each day that the substitute provider worked.
Evidence:
The provider was not at the Family Day Care from 1/17/2022-1/21/2022 and used her assistant as a substitute provider. The substitute timesheet was not used to document the hours away from the home.

Plan of Correction: The timesheet was sent to the provider and will be used to record the information.

Description: Based on observation, an air freshener was accessible to children.
Evidence:
An air freshener was sitting on the back of the toilet in the bathroom that the children use,

Plan of Correction: Removed and put it away right after my call. We will keep it out of the kids reach.
