Comments:
An initial inspection was conducted at the providers home on 3/21/22. The provider had 4 children in care totaling 11 points. The space is set up with a nap room, a play room with lots of different interest areas and a room for eating, art and group table activities. The provider has a large backyard that was inspected as well as a small playground area she uses for outside play until the backyard is ready for use. She just moved to the home and would like to plant grass in the backyard before she uses it for play. Lots of interaction between the provider and the children were observed during the inspection. During the inspection a non compliance with the standards were cited and a violation notice was given to the provider. Please call me at 703-203-8659 if you have any questions regarding this inspection or email me at pernille.brandt@doe.virginia.gov.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-350-E
Description: The tap water in the bathroom used by the children is above the 120 degrees it is required not to exceed.
Evidence: The water temperature was measured and measured at 150 degrees at the time of the initial.

Plan of Correction: I have turned the water heater down and will buy a thermometer so I can check the water temperature and make sure it is below or at 120. I will also supervise the children when they wash hands to make sure they use both the hot and cold water and that the water is not too hot.
