Technical Assistance:

Most Recent Inspection needs to be posted in area where license is posted. Discussed Illness Policy and streaming of paperwork.

Comments:

An unannounced in person inspection was conducted today. The Provider was present with 4 children for a total of 10 points. The children had just come in from playing outside and were very excited to show the inspector their toys. The Provider and Inspector discussed standards that are not under subsidy rules but need attention to meet compliance. The Provider was observed being attentive with the children and has a variety of toys for the children. The Provider was also observed redirecting a child who climbed into a crib and started jumping in it. The Inspector suggested removing a crib for space since the 4 are not in need of a crib. Children's records, evacuation drills, and diapering were reviewed. There were a few non compliances observed today and the Provider was issued a violation notice listing the non compliances. Violations:

Standard #:	22VAC40-665-370-F
Description:	Based on observation and discussion, it was determined the Provider does not dispose dirty diapers in a container that is either foot operated or used in such a way that neither the caregiver's hand or diaper touch the outer lid of the trash can. Evidence: 1. Provider has a small trash can on the changing table that she used her hand to lift up and dispose of the diaper.
Plan of Correction:	I will get a step on trash can.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-830-D
Description:	Based on record review and interview, the Provider did not maintain a record of two evacuation drills in the last few months. Evidence: 1. The Provider had a record but the Inspector could not determine if one drill was practiced in December or in January because the dates were written on top of each other. This resulted in either a record of drills was missing a month. 2. Another recorded drill only listed a date and number of children.
Plan of Correction:	I will be sure to completely record the drills as they occur.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-100-A
Description:	Based on record review of children's files, it was determined the provider did not obtain documentation of a physical examination for a child in her care. Evidence: 1. The Inspector reviewed two children's records and child #2 did not have a physical report in the file.
Plan of Correction:	I will look through all paperwork to be sure that I don't have it and if so, will request it from the parents.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-50-A
Description:	Based on record review and interview, it was determined the Provider is not maintaining a written record of attendance daily. Evidence: 1. The Provider has an attendance record but the last date recorded is March 14, 2022.
Plan of Correction:	I will record when each child arrives and when they leave so I am following licensing and the subsidy rules.
