Technical Assistance:

Provided consultation on: 1) standard 50 A: the family day home shall keep a written record of children in attendance each day. The intent of this standard is so that (in addition to providers) emergency responders are aware of, can account for, and can see at-a-glance all children who are in care at any one time each day. 2) the requirement and importance of daily naps/rest periods 3) standard 510D: rest mats must have 1 inch of cushioning 4) standard 920: menus and requirements 5) using paper towels and not cloth towels in the bathroom 6) ensuring hazardous substances are kept out of reach of children

Comments:

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 1:15 - 2:15 pm with the provider. There were seven children in care, ranging in age from 11 months to five years of age, for a total of 15 points. The children were observed having free play and watching an age-appropriate video. Two child records and three provider/household member records were reviewed. The daily attendance and emergency drill log were reviewed. The provider is not Medication Administration Training (MAT) certified and cannot administer medication to children in care. Please complete the columns for "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" for each violation cited on the violation notice, and then return a signed and dated copy to the licensing office by 4:00pm on Tuesday, 5/3/2022. Description:	Based on observation, and an interview with the provider, the provider failed to maintain documentation of emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place drills as required: Evidence: Documentation of the provider's emergency drills did not contain 1) the method used for notification of the drill, 2) any special conditions simulated, 3) the time it took to complete the drill, 4) problems encountered, if any, and 5) the weather conditions (for emergency evacuation drills only.)
