Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:20 am to 11:10 am. At the time of entrance, 7 children totaling 22 points were in care with the provider and assistant provider. The record sample size consisted of 2 children's records and the provider's record and the assistant provider's record. The children in care were observed engaging with the provider and having free play. There have been no injuries since the last inspection, transportation is not being provided, and no medications are being administered at this time. Areas of noncompliance are noted in the violation narrative and were discussed with the provider during the exit meeting at the conclusion of the inspection.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-920
Description: Based on observation and interview it was determined the current one-week menu was not posted.
Evidence:
1. There was no menu posted.
2. The provider confirmed this was not posted during the inspection.

Plan of Correction: Provider re-printed and posted the menu during the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-240-A
Description: Based on observation it was determined all areas and furnishings of the family day home, inside and outside, were not maintained in a safe, and operable condition.
Evidence:
1. There was peeling paint on the railing and banister of the steps leading to the lower level used for childcare.
2. Provider confirmed the paint needed to be repaired/removed.

Plan of Correction: Provider will remove peeling paint and/or paint the railing and banister.
