Technical Assistance:
Discussed the standard (8VAC20-800-880), meals and snacks provided by family day home shall follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Comments:
A monitoring inspection was initiated on May 18, 2022 concluded on May 18, 2022. There were 3 children present totaling 6 points with 1 staff supervising during the in person observation at the family day home. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of Preventing the Spread of Disease and Nutrition. Children were observed during their afternoon snack time.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-680-A
Description: Based on observation and provider interviews, the provider did not ensue to wash their hands with liquid soap and warm running water as required.

Evidence: The provider was observed during the inspection, just after changing a diaper, for child #1 and was observed throwing away the soiled diaper. The provider then used hand sanitizer on their hands and began preparing and serving snack to the 3 children in care. The provider did not wash their hands with liquid soap and warm running water as required after helping a child with diapering and before serving food.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure I wash my hands using soap and water and I will not use the sanitizer and wipes.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-680-B
Description: Based on observation and provider interviews, the provider did not ensue children?s hands are washed with liquid soap and warm running water as required.

Evidence: At the time the inspection began, three children were observed outside and the provider confirmed the children had been playing outside. After the children went inside they used hand sanitizer and then snack was served and they began eating. The children did not wash their hands with liquid soap and warm running water as required before eating.

Plan of Correction: Children are now washing their hands before they eat.
