Technical Assistance:
Discussed reviewing the new website (Child Care VA) https://www.doe.virginia.gov/cc/.

Clarified the storage requirements, use of and definitions for cleaning, sanitizing and poisonous materials. .

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and an in person tour of the program.
A renewal inspection was initiated on May 31, 2022 and concluded on June 1, 2022. There were 2 children present with 1 provider supervising. A total of 2 children records, 1 caregiver records and 2 household member records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D
Description: Based on observation and provider interviews, the provider did not ensue medication for caregivers and household members, shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence: Two medications, (liquid cold /flu and liquid cold medicine) were observed on the window-sill in the kitchen. The kitchen window-sill was accessible to children in care. Provider indicated a household member had used the medication that morning.

Plan of Correction: Provider put medication in a locked closet during inspection May 31, 2022

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-170-A
Description: Based on record review and provider interviews, the provider did not ensue to obtain from each adult household member prior to coming into contact with children a current report of tuberculosis (TB) screening.

Evidence: Household member #3 did not have a TB screening. This screening was required in December 2021. Household member #3 was observed with children.

Plan of Correction: Household member #3 will get a screening on 6-6-2022

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-530-A
Description: Based on observation and provider interviews, the provider did not ensure cots being used for sleeping or napping by children other than infants shall have linens consisting of a top cover and a bottom cover or a one-piece covering that is open on three edges.

Evidence: Child #1 was observed sleeping on a cot and there was not a top cover available for use.

Plan of Correction: The provider will put names on cots and parents will bring sheets and blankets for children and they will have their name by today.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-530-C
Description: Based on observation and provider interviews, the provider did not ensure that children who were resting / sleeping had linens that were assigned for individual use.

Evidence: Child #1 was observed sleeping on a cot and the bottom sheet used was not assigned for use by an individual child.

Plan of Correction: The provider will put names on cots and parents will bring sheets and blankets for children and they will have their name by today.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-690-K
Description: Based on observation and provider interviews, the provider did not ensue there was a toilet chair or an adult-sized toilet with an adapter seat available to a child being toilet trained.

Evidence: The provider confirmed they did not have a toilet adapter seat for one child who is being toilet trained.

Plan of Correction: The provider will get a toilet adapter.
