Technical Assistance:

Downloaded the Standards for FDH during inspection and encouraged the Provider to read through again. Also advised about the importance of serving food that are properly prepared to avoid risk of chocking for the younger children and that includes keeping food up until children are all seated from handwashing.

Comments:

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 2:40- 3:45 pm. There were 5 children present and the Provider's own child for a total of 12 point. The Provider corrected most violations from the last inspection and children's records were discussed. The Provider has made changes to the space and added in a few more activities. Violations:

Standard #:	8VAC20-800-900-B
Description:	Based on observation, it was determined the Provider did not keep Children from eating or eat or drinking while they were walking and playing, Evidence: 1. The children were given a small snack while standing and they went on playing or walking around. 2. Once redirected about staying seated while having snack, the children got up several times while walking with their drinks or eating the bread.
Plan of Correction:	I will work hard to make sure children stay seated and eat and drink only when they are sitting.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-920
Description:	Based on interview and observation it was determined that the Provider provides meals and snacks but does not keep and post the menu for the current week.
Plan of Correction:	I will make sure current menus are posted.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-60-B
Description:	Based on record review of 5 children's files, it was determined the Provider does not maintain children's records with all required information. Evidence; 1. Child #2, #3, and #5 did not contain a physicians report and all three children have been enrolled over 30 days. 2. Child #5 did not include the employment information and contact for the parents.
Plan of Correction:	I will ask for the physical reports again. I will request the parent complete the paperwork.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-240-A
Description:	Based on observation of the outside it was determined the areas and furnishings of the family day home, outside, were not maintained in a safe manner. Evidence: 1 Provider stated the children play in the backyard and upon observation, the inspector found a detergent container, opened bag of soil, a charcoal grill that a child could pull down onto themselves, and tripping items.
Plan of Correction:	I will clean up the items and keep yard child safe.
Standard #:	8VAC20-800-690-D
Description:	Based on observation it was determined the Provider did not keep the diaper changing surface clear from other activities. Evidence: 1. The diaper surface had diapers, wipes, and cream but also contained scissors, children's toys.
Plan of Correction:	Items were reviewed during the inspection and I will keep children's items off the surface.
