Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today at 12:15p. There were 2 children directly supervised by the provider. The home, 1 staff records, 2 children?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed coloring. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. The home was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D
Description: Based on observation, medication was not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
Medication was observed in an unlocked medicine cabinet in the bathroom.

Plan of Correction: The provider locked the cabinet immediately.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-240-A
Description: Based on observation, areas of the family day home were not maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
Several slats of the wood fence were broken and splintered.

Plan of Correction: The landlord has been informed of the fence. They will schedule to have it repaired.
