Discussed the removal of a newly recalled infant swing.

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 1:00am-12:00pm. There were 5 children directly supervised by 2 staff. The home, 2 staff records, 4 children?s records, 2 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing outside. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. The home was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-770-40-D-5-a Description: Based on record review and provider statement, one child living in the home did not have the results of a central registry check within 30 days of turning 14 years old.
Evidence:
The record for Household Member 3 did not have the results of a central registry check.Plan of Correction: A request for the background check will be submitted as soon as possible. The results of the background check will be emailed to the licensing inspector when they are received.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-770 Description: Based on observation, the family day home did not have a working battery-operated weather band radio.
Evidence:
The weather band radio was not operational on the date of inspection.Plan of Correction: Batteries will be installed today.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-60-B Description: Based on record review, two of four children's records did not contain all required information.
Evidence:
1. Child 2's record did not contain documentation the place or phone number of the father's employer; nor did it contain the street addresses for two emergency contacts.
2. Child 4's record did not contain documentation of the place or phone number of either parent's employerPlan of Correction: Parents will be asked to provide the missing information.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-320-B Description: Based on observation, child-resistant protective covers were not installed on outlets accessible to children under five years of age.
Evidence:
1. Two outlets located behind a crib were observed without protective covers.
2. An outlet in nap room was observed without a protective cover.
3. An outlet in the bathroom used by children was observed without a protective cover.Plan of Correction: Protective covers will be installed today.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-320-I Description: Based on observation, there were obvious fire hazards present in the child care area.
Evidence;
The smoke detector on the lower level was not operational on the date of inspection.Plan of Correction: A new battery will be installed today.
