Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 1:45-2:30. There were 10 children directly supervised by 3 staff for a total of 35 points The home, staff records, 4 children?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely and some were sleeping. Diapering procedures were also observed. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. The home was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-480-B
Description: Based on observation, the Provider did not ensure equipment used by a child would be appropriate to the age, size, ability, and interest of the child.
Evidence:
1. A toddler was observed being rocked in an bouncy seat that is only appropriate for infant use.
2. The Provider stated that they use the seat to help get the child to sleep.

Plan of Correction: We understand that we should not use and will find another way to help toddlers fall asleep before placing them on their cot or in the crib.
