Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 9/29/22.
The provider had 10 children in care with two assistants. A total of 29 points.
The children were observed playing on the playground and transitioning to lunch and later nap time. Lots of interaction between caregivers and children observed during the inspection.
A violation notice was given to the provider with this inspection summary. Please call me at 703-203-8659 or email me at pernille.brandt@doe.virginia.gov if you have any questions regarding this inspection.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-920
Description: Based on the review of the menu the provider failed to indicate substitutions made on the day of the inspection.
Evidence: The children had noodles, hotdogs and cucumbers for lunch which was different from the items on the menu. Menu did not indicate the change

Plan of Correction: I will make sure I indicate substitutions on the menu

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-60-B
Description: Based on the review of 4 children's records, the provider failed to get some information, needed to make the child's file complete.
Evidence: Based on the review of 4 children's records, one child, child 2, is missing the second emergency contact.

Plan of Correction: I will ask the parent for the information

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-130
Description: Based on the observation during the inspection, one assistant can not speak, read or write English.
Evidence: Based on interaction with one of the caregivers and discussion with provider and the other assistant, one assistant does not speak English, she understands, but do not speak. She is there as a speech therapist for the children to teach them to speak Russian. However during the inspection she was supervising children on the playground and was counted in the ratio.

Plan of Correction: She is enrolled in English class and will practice her English. She works at the FDH and CDC to help children learn to speak Russian.
