Technical assistance: Emergency drills; upcoming renewal for background checks; infant equipment.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 10/14/22 from 11am to 12:15 pm. There were 6 children (22 points) in care of two caregivers. The children were observed sleeping, eating snack and playing with toys. There were no medications on site. 3 children's records, 2 caregiver's records, emergency drill and attendance records were reviewed. A walk through of the family day home was conducted. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-A
Description: Based on records review and staff interview, evacuation drills were not practiced monthly.
Evidence: The evacuation drill record showed and the provider stated that evacuation drills were not completed for August and September of 2022.

Plan of Correction: Drills will be completed each month.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-210-A
Description: Based on staff interview, caregivers did not obtain a minimum of sixteen clock hours of training annually in areas relevant to their job responsibilities.
Evidence: The provider stated that Caregiver # 1 and the provider have completed some training hours but not the complete 16 hours.

Plan of Correction: Trainings will be completed and documented.
