Comments:
A renewal inspection was initiated on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 and concluded on November 18, 2022. There were 12 children in care, ages infancy to toddlers present with 3 caregivers. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, personnel, physical health of caregivers and household members, caregiver training, physical equipment and environment, care of children, preventing the spread of disease, emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records and 3 caregiver/assistants and 1 household member records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-320-E
Description: Based on observation at the family day home, the caregiver did not ensure all heating devices located in areas accessible to children shall have barriers or screens and be located at least three feet from combustible materials.

Evidence: During the inspection on November 16, 2022, there was observation of a portable electric heater device in the child care area accessible to the children without a barrier or screen.

Plan of Correction: The provider will put a method in place to ensure the portable electric heater is not accessible to the children in care.
