Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on January 9, 2023, from 9:30am to approximately 10:30am. There were two children present totaling 7 points and the provider. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records, to provider?s record and one household member?s record. Children were observed during free time in the play area and story time. First Aid kits were observed, and a tour of the house was given. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the center and were reviewed with the provider at the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-830-D
Description: Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the family day home did not ensure that records of emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place drills shall be maintained for one year.
Evidence:
1. The records of emergency evacuation and shelter-in-place drills were not kept in the provider?s record.
2. Staff #1, the provider, confirmed the evacuation drills were completed all last year however it was purged.

Plan of Correction: Plan of correction: Staff #1 stated they purged old documents and believed the documentation of the evacuation drills were accidently thrown away. Moving forward, Staff #1 will keep all records of the drills.
