- Technical Assistance:

1. Reviewed how children that live in the home count in the points/ratios, though they do not count in the licensed capacity.
2. The inspector will provide MAT course information.
- Comments:
-
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted at 1:10pm. Observed 6 children in care + 1 child that lives in the home = 22 points with the Provider + Assistant. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were napping during the inspection. The caregivers were actively supervising the children while they slept. Snack to be served this afternoon: cheddar cheese crackers and water. The daycare areas of the home were found to be clean and well supplied with toys and equipment for the children. The outdoor backyard fenced play area offered multiple play options. Both caregivers obtained more than the required amount of annual training hours. Recordkeeping was in good order. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-730-D Description: Based on observations made, it was determined that medications belonging to a child in care were not stored in a locked base. Evidence: They were stored in the daycare, in a storage bin that had no lid or locking mechanism. Plan of Correction: The provider said she would store the medications in a locked cabinet.
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-220-A Description: Based on records reviewed and interview conducted, it was determined that the provider accepted medications for a child though she is not currently trained to give medication to the children in her care.
Evidence:
1. There was a prescription medication and an over-the-counter medication in the home today for Child #4.
2. The provider stated that she had not yet received MAT certification to give the medication.Plan of Correction: The provider said she will take the MAT course and become certified to give medication to the children in her care.
